  • Experience Points× 220
Story

A settler has come to me and said that during one of his journeys he found coins - quite a lot of them. Maybe your explorers will also find some when they go searching for treasures?

On completion: He really found coins lying unclaimed on the street. Unbelievable how careless people are with their cash. But we can make good use of them, so who cares…

  • Experience Points× 8000
Story

Hmm… You've upgraded your military quite a lot. Let me guess, that was my father's idea. He has always believed that more is more. Anyway, the real reason I'm here is because I've found a new route for your explorer.

On completion: Excuse your explorer when he sometimes comes back without an adventure - this route is quite dangerous and sometimes falling back is the better alternative. I have no further routes I can give you. Have fun!

On completion: Isn't the mill beautiful? I love the sound of its sails turning. A friend of mine is in charge of it now. I also have another one for the bakery.

The bakery

  • Have at least 1 Bakery(s) on your island.
  • Experience Points× 30
Story

The time has come. I can build the bakery. Ever since I've lived on this island, I've dreamed of being able to eat fresh bread. I am so excited!

On completion: Wow, I am really impressed. Finally we can produce bread by ourselves. Since you arrived, everything has improved. Thank you very much.

More effective military production

  • Select a 1.
  • Produce at least 2 Solid Sandwich.
  • Experience Points× 30
Story

You really should concentrate more on your soldiers and not waste your time with bagatelles. Wait a minute... I think the bread may actually be of use here. Maybe we can improve our military capabilities with it somehow?

On completion: Hmm… A buff. And how is that supposed to help the military? They don't need sandwiches! They need something more consistent!

Clever move

  • Use 1x Solid Sandwich buffs on your own island.

On completion: I think I have underestimated you in certain areas. That was a clever move. You should go now and look after your production. You always have to keep an eye on the people.

Ranged units

From level 17
  • Complete the quest "Bow maker".
  • Complete the quest "Bowmen".
  • Complete the quest "More damage".
  • Complete the quest "Other islands".

Bow maker

From level 17
  • Have at least 1 Bowmaker(s) on your island.
  • Experience Points× 60
Story

Have you already taken a look at your recruits? They are quite robust when attacked, but not quite so good at fighting back. We need a unit that's able to deal out more damage. Bowmen would be the best. Build a bowmaker so we can train bowmen.

On completion: Well, the bows are a bit small but they will suffice for the start of our bowmen training.

Bowmen

From level 18
  • Acquire at least 100 Bow(s).
  • Own 10 Bowmen.
  • Experience Points× 320
Story

So, let us begin with training the bowmen. I think 10 will be enough to start with, but be sure always to have some more in reserve, just in case.

On completion: So, you've created the basis of your weapon production. Just remember that bow production consumes additional pinewood. You know what that means, don't you?

More damage

From level 25
  • Have at least 1 Longbowmaker(s) on your island.
Story

I was en route today with my scouts and saw something rather worrying. Some bandit camps have very strong units. Most have just one, but that's already sufficient to cause problems. To counter these units we will need more damage than our bowmen can offer.

On completion: I see you know exactly what I am talking about. These longbows cause a lot more damage. I hope they will suffice to drive our enemies back.

Longbows

From level 25
  • Have at least 50 Longbows in your storage.
Story

It still weighs heavy on my mind that I didn't manage to catch that person. Should she try to enter the city a second time, I will arrest her immediately. Anyway, we should continue according to plan and produce the longbows.

On completion: Good - with this quantity of longbows we should be able to equip quite a lot of longbowmen. I would suggest we do this next. I'm going to start looking for that suspicious person again.

Other islands

  • Own 50 Longbowmen.
  • Delegate 10 Longbowman/men from your storage.
Story

Psssst… Come here! I have to be careful because I do not want to be detected. Have you heard about other islands already? There are lots of treasures to be found and mischief that needs to be dealt with. I would gladly tell you more if you give me some longbowmen.

On completion: Hi, hi, thank you. I will contact you when it is safe to talk and tell you more about the other islands. You will not regret this.

Story

I just arrived. I was on a voyage and have seen lots of new and different things. The latest trend is for buildings made out of hardwood and marble. In any case, we should upgrade to keep being competitive.

On completion: It's great that we have enough hardwood trees on this island. Your hard working settlers are already producing hardwood and hardwood planks. Now, let's get on with producing marble.

Advanced building materials 2

From level 19
  • Have at least 1 Marble Mason(s) on your island.
  • Produce at least 50 marble in your workyards.
  • Experience Points× 300
Story

A suspicious person

From level 23
  • Produce at least 200 Hardwood.
Story

A suspicious looking person has been sneaking around your city. I will take care of him and find out who he is. Meanwhile, you should concentrate on hardwood production so we can produce enough longbows quickly.

  • Have a production value of at least RealWood every hour(s) for 0.

Story

As you no doubt remember, we introduced new building materials some time ago. However, we did not check whether we had a positive balance and had even constructed new buildings, which also produce some of these materials. So it is now time to balance these resource chains. Take a look at your economic overview and raise production of these new materials to a decent value.

On completion: Very well, it can stay like this for now. I have already told you this, but it's very important: older production chains need to be updated over and over again, as many resources are consumed by multiple production circles.

On completion: I have spoken to the stable manager once again, and he is now receiving enough wheat to feed his horses. Soon the first horses will be ready.

Cavalry

  • Own 15 Cavalry.
  • Experience Points× 100
Story

We have stables and nobody tells me? That is splendid! Now, we can begin to train the cavalry. There are a lot of qualified settlers we can train as cavalrymen. The more the better.

On completion: You should remember that cavalry always attacks first, targeting the weakest enemy unit first. This will be very useful in your upcoming battles.

Tactician

  • Defeat a bandit camp on your home zone using 50 or more cavalry.
  • Experience Points× 50
  • Horse× 50
Story

The little… What? Oh, I just got a letter from the former comrade I was telling you about earlier. He says that I'm incapable of defeating a bandit camp using just 50 cavalry or more.

Recruits on their way

From level 28

Foul eggs

From level 31

Story

Well, the swords didn't calm your brother down for very long it seems. He has become very agitated again. It is time to send him the soldiers. After that, hopefully, he will finally calm down.

On completion: I don't believe this. It would seem your brother's 'frightening fiend' is simply a lady he was rather ungentlemanly with. She hasn't even threatened him with soldiers, just thrown rotten eggs at his carriage. Unbelievable.

On completion: Could you get hold of some granite? It's quite expensive because it's rare, but there really is nothing better. Some people offer granite through the trade and, in an emergency, there is always the merchant. I heard that sometimes even explorers find granite during their treasure hunts.

But there's one thing we know for sure - this is the heart of The Excelsior. I designed it to translate, analyze and piece together snippets of text. It usually works like a charm, but there are still some kinks to iron out: like how the primal energy of the crystals it uses for fuel occasionally transform the paper into completely different objects and resources.
