Story

Whoo! Whoooo! Helloooooo! We are most grateful to you for placing a Ghost Lantern on your island. Most living beings are afraid of us and think we mean harm. But on the contrary! We are friendly beings, and a crew of adventurers that just cannot give up on this wonderf-whoooo-l world. There's just so much to disc-whooooo-ver. We will not vanish before our thirst for adventure has been quenched! Whooooo-hoo! Our only regret is that nobody ever gave us a home to return to after our ghostly adventures, leaving us to simply wander around helplessly. So please, build as many ghost lanterns on your island as po-whoooo-ssible, so we'll be able to return. We will reward you for every lantern with one mo-whoooooo-re item in a ghostly reward box. We'll give you one box every week. On top of that, we'll provide you with tidings on how you can get your hands on some extra rewards if you fulfill a certain task once a week. But only if you fulfilled the last task we gave you. We're not genies, you know? Just check by our Ghost Ship that yo-whoooooo-u'll find on your west coast - I believe it's hard to overl-whoooooo-k.

On completion: Thanks for visiting! I hope my crew hasn't scared you too much... Has that tress in your hair always been such a pale white? Ha-whooooo, I'm just kidding. We'll return regularly, and we'll try to be on time every week. But you know, there's nothing like ghostly punctuality whooo-ho-hoo.

Mini Ghosts

  • Complete 2 mini missions.
Story

We heard a legend about mini ghosts that live on tiny islands. Doesn't that sound cu-whoooo-te? Help us search for them, and we'll have a small obolus for y-whooooo.

On completion: Such a shame. Someone mistook these wisps for tiny ghosts. That's so super-natural-ficial. Typical of those pirates who gave us the false intel.

Spectral Quarrels

  • Complete a co-op mission.
Story

Oh my, oh my... Even 300-year-olds can sometimes bicker like little children. Unbelievab-whooooo-l. Could you show my ghostly sailors how to co-whoooooo-perate? Some don't get along so well only because they were born in different centuries. A small demonstration of co-whoooooo-peration might help with that.

On completion: Whoooooo-ray! It worked! Their pride seems to have taken a bit of a hit, and now the crew is eager to show the living how it's done. They even use phrases like "Thank you my fellow perished one" and "Apologies my immortal fellow".

Bored Atlas

  • Complete a mission.
Story

My personal friend, Atlas, with whom I've been travelling the seas for hundreds of years now seems to be more than a little bored. It looks like he needs a change of scenery. Could you take him along on one of your adventures? I'll tell him his task is to watch your every move for anything suspicious - he might enjoy a bit of an espionage mission. It doesn't matter much where you take him, just make sure he gets some fresh air.

On completion: Isn't he the cutest ghost dog you've ever seen? Did he behave, or did he just howl away at your enemies? Oh yeah! I've just this second realized I forgot to give you some ghost bags for the ghostly doggy-doo. Ah, just kidding - we don't eat anymore, so there's nothing coming out of us. Except for this ghostly goo of course... Ho-ho-whoooooo.

Brawny Foes

  • Complete an adventure with a difficulty of 5 or higher.
Story

The crew needs a challenge. Would you be able to find us a s-whooooo-itable playground to rattle our sabers? Don't overdo it though - just a minor scuffle will do this time. And please, make sure the fo-whooooo-es are bad guys - you know we're still kind-hearted ghosts, right?

On completion: Oh, that was fun. And the enemies you chose were awesome! We avoided the dragon, but the huge slime blobs were very entertaining. And that underground caves we discovered - just amazing. Wait... What do you mean those weren't the evildoers you meant? That wasn't even the island you chose for us? Where have we been then?!

Tearful Notes

  • Complete 2 scenarios.
Story

We stumbled upon an old notebook, written in the last days of a wintry, forsaken mother. She wished to experience some mysteries, some adventure, riddles or incredible stories after having spent her life raising a horde of children. But it should be an adventure without violence - that was noted specifically. It looks like the mother never got the chance to leave on such an adventure. Will you go in her stead and takes the notes with you, so her soul may find serenity?

On completion: The notes vanished with a glow you say? Ah, that's go-whooooo-od to hear. The mother seems to have had stayed on the bright side of life. But I bet she wasn't the only one who had such a dream. We'll let you know if we encounter more.

Traces of Love

  • Complete any 3 adventures.
Story

A young man holding a baby in his arms was kneeling and sobbing at the shore. He asked the heavens if they couldn't return his wife and the child's mother. The baby had just started talking, and the first thing it apparently said was "Momma?", in a quiet and sad voice. The atmosphere on board hasn't been the same ever since... But now we've got a new goal. We will find out what happened to the mother! If you can, please keep a look out for her too.

On completion: What a coincidence! I would never have believed it if I hadn't seen it with my own eyes. I mean, if I hadn't had seen it with my... ghost eye-holes? Ah, whatever. Who'd have thought you'd find the woman taken prisoner by the bandits still unharmed? It's moments like this that make us cling on to this world - and that make the heavens let us stay, I assume. I'd forgotten that even us gho-whooooo-sts can still cry - in a way. What did you say to the family when they asked how you knew about their tragedy? A little bird told you about it?

Feisty Brawls

  • Complete 2 adventures with a difficulty of 6 or higher.
Story

The ship's company is eager for some brawls, and wants to scare some ruffians. They've witnessed some cruel injustices lately, and couldn't do anything about it, so they want to at least hinder the other evildoers from being able to do anything similar. Can you recommend a few places?

On completion: Oh, these lands are the best we've conquered in a long while! Thanks for the tip! Here, take this as reward!

Hugged Memento

  • Complete 2 missions.
Story

One of my ghost crew found a map stuck between the walls of an old manor. Two spots are marked, and although the outlines of the island aren't visible anymore, it surely isn't the same one we found it on. Here take a lo-whooo-ok - maybe you'll recognize the mountains and the forest marked on the map. Maybe you'll find something good there. Will you share it with us?

On completion: Oh, so you found the place? And? What did you find, don't keep us on tenterhooks! Oh, what? Seriously, toys?!? Oh, and a picture of a girl. I can just about make out what it says on the back... "I'll bury our childhood mementos, so someday maybe they'll make someone else as happy as us. I'll love you until the end of days."

Noseworthy Riddle

  • Complete 3 mini missions.
Story

I've got a riddle for you! If you can't solve it, I'll have you run some errands for me as a forfeit. Deal? OK, here goes! What has 2 wings but cannot fly? 3... 2... 1... Time's up! If you still don't know when you return, I might tell you the answer.

On completion: I only said I 'might' tell you the answer... And no, the answer isn't chicken. Now I'm hungry. This is terrible! Do you know how painful it is to be hungry but unable to eat? This is going to bug me for years again!

A Quest for Friendship

  • Complete 2 co-op missions.
Story

Listen lad, or gal, or, well, I can't see you too clearly without any eyes, so just listen, okay? You need friends. Good friends. And you never know where you might find them. So go and tell someone that you're on "A Quest for Friendship", and ask for their help, OK? And maybe don't just keep asking the same person - that'll get you nowhere. Just say a friendly ghost gave you the push you needed, hee-hee, whooooo!

On completion: And? Did it work? Keep on finding friends in any case, though - you never know when you might need them! Or when they'll need you... Or when you might need each other... Or... Ah, you kno-whooo-w what I mean.

Don't Fly Away

  • Store 200 from completed adventures.
  • Pay 200 Granite from your storage.
Story

It's a bit embarrassing to ask, but... could you get us some ballast for our ship? The problem is, we're a bit too friendly, see, and so we're constantly being pulled upwards...We even keep stones in our pockets so we don't fly off before we want to. But our ship needs some additional ballast so as not to fly off. And unfortunately, every now and then a few bricks just drop straight through the ghostly hull of our ship, so we regularly have to restock our ballast. We haven't found any in a while, so if you stumble upon anything that might do the trick, please let me know!

On completion: Half the load went straight through the hulk. Let's hope we didn't scare the fishes. Sigh.

Scare Parade

  • Store 500 from completed adventures.
  • Pay 500 Horse(s) from your storage.
Story

Since we're all such good friends by now, could you do us a favor? We desperately need some wild horses that aren't afraid of ghosts! Please find us some!

On completion: Oh, this is so much fun! What are we doing, you ask? Riding horses around the island! At night, of course - that way it's more fun, and no-one can see us. There aren't that many fun activities for ghosts, you know... Oh, some people saw us and got scared? Oh, I see. Okay - we'll only do it for one more night, whooooo-ho-ho.

Freezing Town

  • Store 1500 from completed adventures.
  • Pay 1500 Coal from your storage.
Story

A little while back, our ship passed a crisis-ridden island with a town near the coast. It looked like the town had been split in two by a landslide, so we got curious. But unfortunately, we couldn't get as near as we wanted, as wild beasts and foes with strength we'd never seen before were roaming all about. They were wandering around just like lost ghosts. Despite all this, we found a small family hiding out in some ruins near the coast. They told us the story of the island, and how they'd always just about managed to keep going - somehow. But during the winters, it becomes incredibly hard to survive, especially due to the cold. If they take shelter, the beasts will leave them alone, but their stock of coal always runs out too soon, putting them in a dire situation. Would you mind gathering some flammable material?

On completion: Apologies - looks like we didn't think this one through. First, we couldn't find the island again and traveled seemingly forever - even though our ship flies faster than birds - then we lost most of the cargo in a storm! We might have to go back with some more later. But the people were very thankful for what they got - they couldn't believe their eyes when coal started "flying" into their warehouse!

Ghostly Weapons

  • Store 500 from completed adventures.
Story

Whooooo-hoo again! Ever since we settled on your island, we've been able to enjoy many more adventures than before. Unfortunately, this has also made our ghostly weapons dull faster than we expected. Could you get us some iron to resharpen them? We don't actually use the iron ore itself, but we learned how to extract the essence of it and instill it into our weapons, repairing and even strengthening them! During the process, the iron ore does get destroyed nonetheless, though, so I guess you could say we are u-whoooo-sing it up.

On completion: It whooooooo-rked! Our ghost blades are shinier than ever, see? Oh, you can't see them, huh? But you could feel it if I just sliced you a bit... May I? OK, OK - apologies, I didn't mean it like that. I just thought someone like you, who produces so many weapons each day, would cherish such a result - no offense intended!

Chained

  • Store 200 from completed adventures.
Story

Whooooo! During our travels, we've encountered many settlers in p-whoo-or shape! They seem to be have been kidnapped, or got themselves trapped and forced to work for their captors and such. We've made a list of places on the islands we found so you can free them! I wouldn't wait too long, though - some of them really seem close to popping their cloggs.

On completion: So many people freed, so many soldiers, traders and travellers returned home. So many joyful tears from families and friends. You can rest easy today my friend, for you have done a very good deed!

Coral Reef

  • Produce at least 1000 marble in your workyards.
  • Pay 1000 Marble from your storage.
Story

We've noticed your fishing efforts are driving away the fish swarms! We can gladly help you with that by creating an artificial coral reef for our friends with fins! We love a good colorful reef ourselves, so you only need to provide us with enough material to create the reef. Be sure to bring us the right material though - not every ordinary brick or stone will do. Here's a detailed description how it should look.

On completion: Oh, how magnificent is the glow from below. The sun's rays, split by the water's surface, reflect off the marble reef and dance like little rainbows along the ship's side. Go take a look yourself!

Ghostly Repairs

  • Produce at least 1000 tool(s) in your workyards.
Story

Whoooo-hooooo, wow! You should have seen that kraken! It must have been twice the size of our ship, the Flying Ghostman - and it almost managed to send us all to the end of time! I'm still not sure how it actually managed to touch us, but it must have been around for longer than even we've been roaming the seas - and it's clearly picked up plenty of skills along the way! We didn't want to hurt the majestic beastie, so we managed to slip out of its tentacles but for a prize. Unfortunately, that means part of the ship has evaporated into thin air, and a giant hole in the side of our vessel hasn't exactly been helping the crew's morale. Could you please make us this special kind of tool? I know they're pretty archaic, but that's all we know how to use. It won't cost any more than your usual tools - and you can keep them afterwards.

On completion: As good as new! Well, I guess it's more like if the Flying Ghostman was destroyed only yesterday. Ah, I'll never get used to this. Even after hundreds of years, I still stumble over my own words... Maybe it'll impr-whooooo-ve now I'm able to talk to living people more often.

Wet Sheets

  • Produce at least 2000 Coal.
Story

Brrrr-whooooo. While travelling the abyss by foot, we managed to get caught in a ghost lake! Nothing too serious after all, but we're still all dripping wet and we need to dry out! I know it sounds silly, but believe me, a ghost-cold is no fun at all, as it can easily last for a decade - and a constantly sneezing ghost will eventually drive everyone nuts! Please produce some more coal to fire up your smelters a bit more! And don't worry, we won't scare anyone! We'll just hang out on a clothesline nearby for a while.

On completion: So. Much. Better. Whoooooo-hoo! Sorry for the scares we gave some of your settlers when we flew away, though.

Translucent Rivals

  • Produce at least 500 Iron.
  • Pay 500 Iron from your storage.
Story

Quick! We need your help! A band of wandering ghosts have apparently got envious of our ability to freely roam the seas, and they're threatening to banish us! They've figured out a way to wield iron weaponry without injuring themselves, and now they're coming for us! Here are the instructions for what we need you to do to give us chance to defend ourselves. Please hurry - we don't know when they'll be able to reach us!

On completion: Hah! Thanks to you, we were able to beat the sheets out of those pillows! They'll be back for sure, but we showed them for now!

Vicious Anatidae

  • Produce at least 2000 Bread.
  • Pay 2000 Bread from your storage.
Story

Help! Help! Whoooo-heeelp! We've been attacked by the most vicious, evil and cruel beings I've ever seen in my entire life - and my entire death! These beasts are relentless. They've been following us for days now, and they just won't stop pecking and quacking. Their number two even gets stuck on our railings! And no-whooooooo, I don't know how this is possible. But what's worse, I don't know how to remove it ! We need something to distract these enormous ducks! We can't simply blast, them can we?

On completion: Sometimes when I wake up at night, I can still hear the quacks. Only kidding - I don't sleep!

Sunken Pride

  • Train 50 Recruit(s).
  • Delegate 50 Recruit(s) from your storage.
Story

This time, we've come to ask a favor for someone else. It's for another small village, to tell the truth. Their village gets flooded almost every year, destroying what they build up and taking their dreams away with every wave. They have the materials, but what they're lacking is strong men to build up the flood barrier. Could you spare any?

On completion: The men you sent fulfilled their task meticulously, and even got rewarded with medals by the mayor, who asked them to stay and continue their efforts. All of them agreed, and many even plan to build their own homes over there. One man's even got married already! Can you believe that? Me neither... But I wish the couple all the best.

The Battue

  • Train 50 Cavalry(s).
  • Delegate 50 Cavalry units from your storage.
Story

A duke from the continent is arranging a battue to please the noblemen, but it seems he's missing the riders he needs to properly carry it out. This would be a good chance for you to either gain some more respect with the duke - or, go with what we prefer, and sabotage the battue to spare those cute foxes and deers. It's up to you what you want to tell your men, though - we've just come to let you know about the opportunity. If you're up for it, train some riders so they know how to behave in such a no-whooooo-ble event.

On completion: Your men fulfilled their orders to the word. Congrats! I think it wouldn't have mattered what you told your men - the Duke is pleased enough that you provided the riders.

Rainy Days... Or Not

  • Train 125 Longbowman(s).
  • Delegate 125 Longbowman/men from your storage.
Story

Settlers in the north-east of your island seem to be caught in a drought and could really use some rain. We want to repay you for all you've done for us, and we want to help improve the life of your people too. Here's a recipe for some arrows that'll make it rain - but if you want the rain without creating a thunderstorm, you'll have to do it bit by bit, and will need quite a few specially trained bowmen to fulfill this daily task. It's up to you if you want to follow our suggestion thr-whooooooo-h.

On completion: It's raining... arrows. OK, we probably should have seen this coming. But at least the drought has also been watered down. Better get some whooooo-den umbrellas!

Bow-Show

  • Train 50 Bowman(s).
  • Delegate 50 bowman/men from your storage.
Story

We've noticed your folk seems to be somewhat lacking in entertainment options - except for the tavern, that is! Even if that isn't exactly the healthiest of ways to spend their leisure time. Still, although it may not be our place to judge, we've come up with a proposal. We recently saw an incredible show made up of just some simple bowmen. They were shooting flaming arrows at each other in curves, catching them in mid-air, and even playing theater while shooting arrows left and right. I think you could put something like this on too? I'll tell your men how to go about it.

On completion: Your men did wonderfully! They even improved on the few issues I picked up on! The men, and the audience, have asked if they can create a permanent show to lighten everyone's mood. You don't oppose, do you? Well, I already told them it'll be fine so... whoooo-hoo.

Brewses

  • Train 75 Soldier(s).
  • Delegate 75 Soldier(s) from your storage.
Story

Your tradesmen seem to be moaning behind your back. One of my crew overheard a discussion between them, saying that it's careless that your brew deliveries around the town aren't protected at all. Almost daily, a group of thirsty thieves comes out of the bushes and one of the deliveries vanishes! The deliverers have even stopped reporting the incidents, as it's just become the daily routine. Train some soldiers to escort the deliveries to solve the conflicts peacefully, if possible. Just having troops assigned should improve the situation - and your standing with the tradesmen.

On completion: OK, so now the troops are taking some of the brew as payment for their work, but I guess that's better than it being stolen! At least they're taking less than the thieves would - and your tradesmens' mood has improved drastically.

Vacation

  • Complete any 3 adventures.
Story

Even we need some time to relax every now and then. But as we seem to scare your Settlers every time we try - even though they've seen us often enough by now - we'd like to find somewhere we can get some rest, without being flustered by stuttered screams every few minutes. Could you keep an eye out for a remote location for us? Preferably it'll have a beach and some palm trees - but as we don't feel any wind or cold, any quiet and remote location would d-whoooo.

On completion: Oh, those spots you mentioned are perfect! I think we'll check them all out one by one. My crew is already looking forward to it, and they've got their vacation clothes on already... Well, they would have if they could wear clothes, anyway.
